Austin, Texas– AP and Acadia Healthcare, a leading behavioral healthcare provider, recently topped out Cross Creek Behavioral Health Center.
The addition and renovation to the existing facility in Austin, Texas, includes a new 96,580 sf, two-story building with 106 beds, therapy and exam rooms, administration rooms, noisy/quiet areas and an outdoor patient courtyard area.
The renovation focuses on reworking 13,350 sf of the dining hall and kitchen, admin space and outpatient area offices, tying into the new addition. Additionally, the facility’s water quality system will be upgraded along with a parking lot expansion. The entirety of the project is set to be completed in December 2025.
“Mental healthcare is a growing and needed area within the medical field, and it is an honor to work on this project with Acadia Healthcare,” said Addisu Negash, Project Executive at AP. “Reaching the construction midpoint is a great milestone, and it shows how we are using our vast healthcare facility experience to provide Cross Creek Behavioral Center with top-quality work.”
Johnson Johnson Crabtree Architects is working with AP and Acadia on the project.
A ceremony was held on July 18 to celebrate the milestone. Lance Bonderer AP superintendent, Kay McKennery CEO of Cross Creek Hospital, and Adan Martinez Electrical Superintendent and Spanish translator, spoke to express their gratitude to all involved in the project and appreciating their support to combat the behavioral health crisis.
“Today, as we celebrate this topping-out ceremony, I want to extend my gratitude to every one of you for your dedication and hard work. Your commitment has brought us to this important milestone,” said Lance Bonderer, AP superintendent.

Additionally, AP is also working with Acadia on renovation and expansion projects in Tucson and outside Phoenix, as well as constructing a new behavioral health facility in Mesa, Arizona.
