The addition includes new educational classrooms, an ADA testing space, faculty offices, an anatomy lab, multi-use labs and support spaces. The partial renovation of the existing educational spaces accommodates the transition of instructional spaces to meet program needs and the technology conversions used in current teaching practices. The project included site preparation, an access drive, landscaping and utility work.
Started in 1999, the TTUHSC Physician Assistant Program’s primary mission is to train physician assistants to provide clinical opportunities in primary care in rural and underserved populations in West Texas. The program currently has 112 students.
AP worked in partnership with Texas Tech University System and its rep, Project Control, and design partner, Parkhill.
“This project included some incredibly interesting spaces that we don’t get to see every day,” said Lucas Hubbard, AP Project Executive. “Topping the list was the Gross Anatomy suite, where the physician assistant students conduct cadaver dissection and radiographic anatomy. That suite includes more than 20 anatomy workstations with overhead surgical light booms, necropsy sinks and a cadaver cooler.”
