Dallas – AP is pleased to share the successful outcome of a home repair project for a 77-year-old disabled homeowner in south Dallas. 30 committed volunteers from AP gathered with our trade partner Cherry Coatings to tackle critical home repairs in partnership with Hearts & Hammers.
Starting early in the morning, volunteers engaged in various tasks, including cleaning, replacing damaged trim and fascia, caulking and weatherproofing. Cherry Coatings joined us to assist with painting the entire home exterior once repairs were complete. Together, our combined efforts transformed the homeowner’s residence in the span of just one day, making it safer, weatherproofed and visually refreshed.
“Hearts & Hammers has been an AP nonprofit partner for several years, where we have donated funds from our annual golf tournament, but we always love when we have the opportunity to take our mission of building communities where we live and work a step further through our volunteer efforts,” said Will Pender, President of Adolfson & Peterson Construction’s Gulf States Region. “It was a great joy to combine with a trade partner to help restore this home and make a significant impact in the life of a community member.”
“Cherry Coatings was instrumental in the success of this project. From the beginning, they demonstrated their commitment and partnership, ensuring everything quickly came together. We started early at 7:30 a.m. and were able to finish by 2 p.m. Without Cherry Coatings’ dedication and efficiency, completing this project in a single day would have been impossible,” said Addison McDougle, AP Senior Project Manager.
Hearts & Hammers assists low-income senior citizens, disabled individuals and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces or their surviving spouse who are homeowners struggling with deteriorating homes. The organization works to restore home exteriors at no cost to the homeowner, aiming to prevent the harsh reality some face of potentially losing their homes due to the damage. The goal is to ensure these individuals can continue to live independently.
